The message of the new board

Dear Friends and Colleagues,


Our Association has supported the b[ 9th International Conference on Goats i]n Queretaro (Mexico) from August 31 - September 4, 2008.
This event, specially dedicated to the conditions of development of a sustainable development of the the goat activities and productions systems all over the world has been a great success with more than 600 participants from 44 countries.
According to our Constitution, IGA has elected now a new board of nineteen members and new officers have been chosen.
We are a motivated team to develop the activity and services of our Association
In our world facing dramatic challenges, the role of IGA is more than never fundamental to make aware the importance of goats ans local animal production for the welfare of many rural zones
In one year, our membership has increased significantly with more than 256 members from 93 countries.
Our members are an amazing group of people who are dedicated to promoting goat research and development for the benefit of humankind, to alleviate poverty, to promote prosperity and to improve the quality of life.
For the next 4 years we will develop a ambitious Action plan based on several strategic points :
High qualities International and Regional Conferences. Particularly, the board has decided to sponsor exceptionnally for the first time 2 complementary International Conferences on Goats in 2010 and 2012, in Brasil and Spain.
To develop Membership and Sponsoring with new services , information and permanent contact with our members,
To keep and develop always more the high scientific quality of Small Ruminant Research, our Journal published by ELSEVIER
