Deadline for manuscript submissions: 15 February 2023. ![]() Special Issue Information Dear Colleagues, Sheep and goat production from European breeds is an essential and far-reaching industry, providing original products to international markets. Ruminant animal products are recognized in Europe and other continents for their quality and originality. Although these products have a number of attractive characteristics, their high sensory quality is considered the most relevant to consumers. The quality of animal products from ruminants varies between breeds, feeding strategies, processing factors, and so on. European consumers want to know the characteristics of the products they consume. Therefore, new systems to trace the origin of animal products in Europe are required. For example, biomarkers can be used to identify the origin of animals and guarantee the quality of products. Improvements that can guarantee the traceability of products of animal origin are currently being developed. Furthermore, this characterization can help local products of high sensory quality develop quality brands, sustaining them economically. In this Special Issue, we invite researchers to submit original research and review articles on new challenges and strategies to ensure the quality of food products from sheep and goat breeds in Europe. These papers might include, but are not limited to, topics relating to traceability control, biomarkers, new production systems, new products, original products, or the use of regional available byproducts. Goat farming has a long tradition in Qazvin province. This helpful animal produces valuable products such as meat, milk, skin, and hair fed by forage and roughages. Goat breeding in Qazvin province is specialized to highlands where there are challenging conditions to rearing other farm animals. Geographic distribution areas Areas of Qazvin Province have the largest goat population, including Eastern Alamut, Western Alamut, Lower Tarom (Tarom-e-Sofla), and rural of Qazvin. Also, in this province, about 5% of some sheep flocks are goats. Population Based on the current data, the goat population is over 158 thousand heads. The types of rearing systems The traditional goat keepers in Qazvin province are overwhelmingly rural and dependent upon mountainous pastures during warm seasons. In the spring, herds of goats feed on the village meadows, and they use fields upstream from mid-June to the end of the summer. In the cold seasons, they stay at the fold in their villages, and fodder is brought to them. ![]() Summary The information contained in this manual describes the important aspects of dairy goat production in Trinidad and Tobago. Its purpose is to help you and other farmers improve your production. The manual assumes that you are interested in dairy goat production, but it does not assume that you know anything about rearing them. This manual provides you with some basic knowledge and technologies about various aspects of dairy goat production including but not limited to: choosing good goats, nutrition, feeding, breeding, grooming, disease control and treatment. En el caso de España, en 2014 se hizo una propuesta desde el sector caprino español en el V Foro Nacional de caprino celebrado en Sevilla y decidieron proponerme como representante en España. Entre los representantes nacionales, la comisión correspondiente del IGA Board en función de su actividad en los cuatro años anteriores elige un Director en cada continente, y en este caso he sido elegido recientemente como Director de Europa Occidental. Francisco de Asís Ruiz is one of the most reputable researchers in the goat sector in Spain. He works as a technician in the Economics Department of the Agrifood Chain of the Andalusian Institute for Agricultural Research and Training (Ifapa) in Granada and has recently been appointed Regional Director of the International Goat Association (IGA) for Western Europe.
