The Spanish society of sheep and goat (SEOC) returns to celebrate its annual Congress, this time in the historic city of Ourense. In this Edition, the “Auditorio Municipal of Ourense” will host the XXXIX National Conference and XV international.
Following the guideline of previous conferences, but improving year after year, speakers of high professional reputation in the field of small ruminants have been invited, which will give us information on the latest advances in knowledge regarding these species. As a novelty, this year we have introduced a monographic Conference on Mastitis by express request of the sector. Furthermore, a very practical topic is going to be treated in the satellite symposium: “Performing a necropsy”.

Executive summary The Regional workshop on goat breeding within the Hungarian-Romanian European Regional cross-border conference, organized under the auspices of the International Goat Association in cooperation with Hungarian Sheep and Goat Dairying Public Utility Association took place in Debrecen, Hungary and Oradea, Romania. The conference was held on 8-10 April in Debrecen and on 11 April in Oradea. The participants of the conference were arriving from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia (The Former Yugoslav Republic of), Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, as well as South Africa, USA, Mexico, New-Zealand, Malaysia, Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco. There were five sessions held within the conference 1. Breeding; 2. Nutrition; 3. Environment and production systems; 4. Animal health; Human Health, along with one round-table (on animal welfare of goats), and three separate workshops on different sections of goat reproduction. The association of milking goats, organizer of the event, was founded in 2011 in El-Méniaa City and wants to help farmers to improve the quality of their products and expand their herds of dairy goats. The consumption of milk, meat and goat cheeses are, among others, the expected goals by this young association. Capr’inov the show of the professionals of the goat field, will take place on November 26th and 27th, 2014 in Niort in France. Created in 2006 Capr'inov reunites all the actors of the caprine sector, during two days and attempts to value the professional skill, the know-how, and the innovations appropriate for the field. This show will include: meetings and exchanges, conferences, caprine competitions, genetic presentations, demonstrations, tastings, etc., and is based in Niort in Poitou-Charente (France), the birthplace of goat production. This year’s NGE will take place September 25-29, 2014 at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington, Illinois.
The first year was a huge success with 400-450 goats in attendance in 2012 with about 600-800 people in attendance with their goats or for seminars. In 2013, this number increased to a total of 825 goats in attendance for show and exhibit, people in numbers for the 5 days increased to 2500+ attending seminars and shows, showing goats or being vendors. The organizers are excited to announce they have increased attendance again, and the number of goats showing at NGE. Boer goats were the highest in number with 162 goats. The Congress will take place on October 16-18, 2014, in Konya, Türkiye (Turkey). The aims of SRC preparation are for both celebration the 100th year anniversary of establishment of BDIARI in 1914 and sharing the recent advances of sustainable sheep and goat production. A large numbers of scientists and representatives from all over the world will be participating in this congress, which indicates the high interest in the field of sheep and goat Production. Our congress aims to transfer the recent advances in our professional field, to our colleagues, academicians, industries, and related stakeholders to increase professional knowledge accumulation and to gather our colleagues in a social environment. Objective To promote and recognize the diversity and quality of the multitude of goat cheeses around the world, as well as to contribute to the improvement of best practices in goat cheese making. The awards will host international experts, who will make technical recommendations for producers.
